Re: Updated National Emergency Communications Response Guidelines Effective 1 August 2020
The Radio Relay International Emergency Plan has been updated and enhanced based on stakeholder input and emergency exercise evaluations performed over the past two years.
The revised 2020 plan is in effect as of August 1, 2020. It outlines the specialized procedures to be used when the traffic system is called upon to provide emergency communications services. These procedures are designed to expedite message traffic based on precedence, while enhancing network efficiency and managing circuit capacity during a disaster operation. A variety of reference data is included in the plan, as well as examples of several specialized message formats designed for resource management, the reporting of weather observations, and the reporting of situational awareness data.
These guidelines are intended to outline the general nature of emergency response. Considerable flexibility is retained to ensure that local and state/section traffic nets retain sufficient flexibility to serve their areas and associated emergency communications programs.
Please feel free to share this plan with your fellow traffic operators, your local and section emergency coordinators, and others involved in emergency communications.
