Iceland Volcanic eruption

By | March 21, 2021

a volcano has erupted near Fagradalsfjall, South West of the Icelandic capital Reykjavik. The country has had many earthquakes over the last few weeks so an eruption was a risk. At this time, the lava and gas from the volcano are not likely to affect air travel or the local population immediately.

The volcano is already getting attention from news services around the world but the eruption is not large and there is no effect on local communications services. The local TV service https://ruv.is are streaming video if you want to see the event yourself.

This has already been the ‘main news’ in some countries with many remembering the impact that the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull had on air traffic.  But the reality is that this is a small event at the moment with no communications or ‘disaster’ consequences.
